Happy 30th Birthday to the GIF! GIPHY is marking the occasion with TIME_FRAME: A week-long gallery exhibition exploring the history of art online, and demonstrating the power of the GIF as a format that will guide us into the future of visual culture.

Featuring works by over 30 artists, the exhibition includes interactive installations, VR experiments, artist talks, and workshops.

Gallery 151 is located at 245 W 14th St between 7th and 8th New York NY 10011. The gallery will be open Saturday 6/17 to Wednesday 6/21 • 1–9pm & Thursday 6/22 • 1-6pm.

3PM — THE STATE OF THE GIF: A panel discussion exploring the past, present, and future of the GIF. Presented by Rhizome.
Featuring Marisa Olson (artist/curator), Faith Holland (artist), and Molly Soda (artist), moderated by Zachary Kaplan (Rhizome)

7PM — LIVE Musical Performance by Moon Bounce: Mutant Pop from Philadelphia.

SUNDAY, JUNE 18TH
3PM — Radical Digital Painting: Artist and programmer Jeffrey Alan Scudder (JAS) lectures on digital painting and performs with a variety of his home-grown software instruments for making unique pictures and sounds.

6PM — VR Show & Tell: Demo an array of VR experiences exploring the evolving intersection of art, animation and helmets. Presented by Superbright + Ooni + Rhizome.

MONDAY, JUNE 19TH
7PM — Inside the Heads of GNOG: Learn about the delightful puzzle game GNOG with a guided play-through and artist talk from the award-winning designer. Presented by game designer Samuel Boucher of KO_OP.

TUESDAY, JUNE 20TH
7PM — An Explorer's Guide to Internet Archaeology: Join Atlas Obscura and GIPHY for a journey into the deepest depths and darkest corners of the internet. Presented by Atlas Obscura.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21ST
3PM — FRAME BY FRAME: An interactive workshop on how to transform your art into GIFs. Featuring live demos with Wallplay artists & audience participants. Presented by wallplay.
