///////////MORE DETAILS

Weaving the musical bridges connecting Cuban son, salsa, timba, and funk, the trombonedriven, power salsa octet Ola Fresca, under the direction and creative energy of Jose Conde, has created a swinging, fearless tropical Latin sound directly from Brooklyn, New York. The group’s discography includes their 2004 debut album Ay! Que Rico, the 2008 Independent Music Awardwinning ®Evolucion, and ELIXIR, and they have performed throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and parts of Latin America with engagements at the Chicago World Music Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Central Park Summerstage, at the Kennedy Center, and at the NY Global Rhythm Festival.

Marlene Veras, a Brooklyn native, has experience in multiple dance styles including Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Pachanga, Cha Cha, Hustle, Ballroom, and Hip Hop. As a dance instructor, Marlene has over 10+ years of teaching experience; she has taught classes and workshops at Balmir, YMCA, Kingsborough Community College, and at national/international dance congresses. Marlene also regularly performs and competes at dance congresses around the world, both individually and as a member representing Balmir Latin Dance Studio. Marlene and competitive dance partner Hunter Houde are the 2017 World Salsa Summit Rising Stars Salsa On 2 Showcase champions, and the 2017 International Hustle and Salsa Congress Pro Triple Threat (Salsa/Bachata/Hustle) champions.

James Nazarov is an artist obsessed with dots and the way the human eye perceives reality. Nazarov was born, raised, and currently operates in Brooklyn, New York. After receiving a J.D. from Saint John’s University he opened his first studio and has been creating art ever since. For James, a piece of art is a conversation, a map to self discovery. Different forms of abstraction allow the viewer to connect with art by using their own power of perception. Each piece that James creates is a multi-layered dialogue. What the viewer starts with seeing, is not always what they end up uncovering. The world is broken down around us into Pixels, and perception of life comes from putting the dots back together.

The Space Station, by This Friday or Next Friday, premieres at this year’s Live at the Archway. Tfnf is likely the tiniest, most inconsequential art gallery in DUMBO, Brooklyn, probably in NYC, and maybe on the face of the earth. It was founded by Nathan Sinai Rayman, and he runs it with Zach Seeger, his Director of Programs.

Live at the Archway showcases the best of DUMBO and Brooklyn talent, presenting a broad range of music and performance genres. This season brings sizzling salsa, Colombian cumbia, swing dancing, world roots music, sultry R&B, an Italian modern dance troupe, puppetry, funk, DJs and more. With beer, wine and bites from The Lighthouse and epic scenery below the Manhattan Bridge, it’s the best place to be every Thursday night.

Concerts & events take place on Thursdayevenings at 6:00 p.m. It's always all ages and always rain or shine.

Live at the Archway is presented by The DUMBO Improvement District and The Lighthouse. It is co-curated by Clara Inés Schuhmacher, of the BID, and Tanya Rynd of Superfine.

Special thanks to our season sponsor, GreenDesk, DUMBO's native coworking space.
