Summer Streets is an annual New York City tradition that takes over nearly seven miles of streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and Lafayette.
This FREE festival welcomes people of all ages to partake in a day of playing and hanging out in the streets.
Held from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm for three consecutive Saturdays in August, Summer Streets allows participants to plan a trip as long or short as they wish. All activities at Summer Streets are free of charge, and designed for people of all ages and ability levels to share the streets respectfully.
Summer Streets is a project of the New York City Department of Transportation.
Involvement in healthy and sustainable activities is encouraged. Bring the kids, brings your bicycle, bring your pets, bring some toys!
In 2016, nearly 300,000 people took advantage of the open streets.
