On Sunday, September 10, 3pm-5pm, poet David Mills will lead a poetry reading and workshop in commemoration of Lewis H. Latimer's birthday. Lewis H. Latimer was the son of fugitive slaves, a poet and a self-taught inventor.

David Mills will read poems from his poetry collection entitled «Talking to the Bones,» the first poetic work on New York's African American Burial Ground — America's oldest and largest slave cemetery. Following the reading, the poet will discuss the research-writing process, and engage the audience in creating poems and exploring Latimer's legacy.

Seats are limited. Please RSVP to the event: ttblatimer.eventbrite.com
