Kunstraum LLC is proud to present the annual KUNSTRAUM Summer Show highlighting new and ongoing members of our creative community – designed for artists to exchange ideas and practices, to network and benefit from each other’s experiences. This exhibition showcases talent fostered in our studios, providing both known and emerging artists the opportunity to show their work together. The artists in the KUNSTRAUM Summer Show represent diversity in media, age, nationality, and gender — the culmination of our mission as artist hub and incubator.
Robert Costello’s paintings are the visual result of piecing together meaning while trying to look behind the curtain. Shira Erlichman’s portrait work seeks to celebrate personally significant moments and identities often erased from history. Forrest Fulton’s works study the relationships of volume, surface, and light via the various levels of precision that painting affords. Noel Hennelly creates a visual language is based on plant and animal forms, curios, and elements salvaged out of old forklifts. Karen Holt’s paintings of “fleshy blobs” extend beyond the frame to find their pace in the world. Miguel Otero-Fuentes brings architectural concepts to art in order to study and experiment with ideas of materials, space, geometry, light and form. Jade Robertson’s passion for travel, topography, and cartography has taken her across the world and is a focal point. Fernando Schrupp’s conceptual photography work is the product of his international urban explorations.
Kunstraum LLC, a gallery and studio community, opened in early 2015 by the Navy Yard in Brooklyn. As an interdisciplinary team of curators, artists, and architects, we seek to promote local and international emerging art and outstanding art concepts. By opening our gallery to different art professionals interested in sharing engaging ideas, unconventional thinking, and risk-taking, Kunstraum pushes the parameters of emerging, international, contemporary art. Recent projects include Video Shop, awarded the Artspace Fairgoers’ Award at NADA NY and features in Interview Magazine, ArtNet and Vice.
