ABOUT THE PARTY:
United by their love of house infused with tribal, disco, funk, edits and all things tropical, the QUALITY party pays homage to the past (fat basslines, heavy percussion, and rhythms) while looking to the future with the finest productions of the moment. Hosted by FSQ, whose recent productions on Soul Clap Records and remixes for Kraak and Smaak and Black Magic Disco have been lighting up dance floors from Ibiza to LA, will take you to another time and space. «Cielo has the best sound in New York (Sound system + acoustics)! To a house head like me, can it get better than that?» says Wendy Escobar who is joining FSQ and Ozgood on this first edition of QUALITY.
Born and raised in Queens, NY Wendy Escobar brings brains, talent, and grit to a game that has never seen anything like her. Playing high-energy house and techno, deep house grooves with a healthy dose of dance classics, Wendy's infectious energy, unmatched ear, and dedication all shine through the dance floor. A recent graduate of the esteemed Point Blank Music School, Wendy’s fans have since seen her play numerous House Music hotspots and festivals from London to Ibiza, Movement in Detroit to Burning Man. Appointed the 'Voice of the Underground' for Traxsource Live, she already has 4 million listeners worldwide on FM and online radio. An NYU Stern graduate, she has got the brains and skills to pay the bills, selling out her first show at the esteemed Cielo in NYC. When she’s not rocking dance floors Wendy is working on her music catalog as a producer and songwriter. A true artist, the native New Yorker already impressed Grammy nominated engineers and producers. Consistently proving to deliver only the best quality work, expect big things from this small girl.
FSQ is an acronym for Funk, Style, Quality, and that’s exactly what they deliver. This is what happens when you mix a legendary D.J. and producer from The Funk Mob/nephew of George “Dr.Funkenstein” Clinton with Matt Coogan, aka One Era, Boston boy Chas Bronz and G Koop: producer, session musician and replay artist for the likes of Nelly, Drake and Ice Cube amongst others. We caught up with the guys to find out more about their productions and celebrate their latest release “Better than Alright (Remixes)”.
Each member of this quintet derives from a deep musical background.
Chuck Da Fonk toured and recorded with George Clinton & Parliament — Funkadelic in the mid-nineties. The Hourchild is equal parts hype-man as he is discographer, having cut his teeth in the nineties servicing Tommy Boy’s record pool. The Hourchild is also George Clinton’s nephew who looked after a young Chuck back in the day. Philly-based Matt Coogan “One Era” is a talented multi-instrumentalist and producer. Chas Bronz, is most known for his talents behind the decks, on the guitar, as well as a slew of other instruments. Rounding out the group is none other than G Koop. G's a talented producer, session musician and replay specialist for the likes of Nelly, George Clinton, Drake, Talib Kweli, Atmosphere, Ice Cube, Scarface et al.
Winter 2014 brought about FSQ’s first release on Soul Clap records, the «Zulu Congo Call” EP. In addition to working on new productions, FSQ continues to remix other artists’ works in their signature style of Northern Soul and Caribbean Disco.
Los Angeles based Ozgood plays a special blend of house, disco and funk that is infused with Tropical, Latin and Afro-Beat rhythms. As a tastemaker, DJ and producer he has gained worldwide respect for the Afrolicious party and label he co-founded have gained critical praise for his original production and remixes that have come out on ESL Music, Six Degrees Records, Akwaaba Records and his own imprint, Mixto Records. Equally at home rocking parties on the Playa and the club the effect is always the same, an enthralled dance floor that never stops moving while Ozgood is on the controls.
