Have you been thrown off balance in the past year? It can seem that every day there is something else dramatic to deal with, from police shootings and acquittals to the defunding of the National Endowment for the Arts or the EPA. Come take refuge in the exploration of the Buddhist practice of Equanimity, the capacity to accept things as they are, so that we can show up for everything this moment demands with compassion, patience, presence, and determination. We will explore Equanimity through asana, meditation, personal reflection, and discussion.
About Jacoby Ballard
Jacoby Ballard has been practicing meditation, teaching yoga and working for social justice for over 16 years, finding them to be intersecting and interdependent paths that deepen, ground, expand, and nourish one another. Jacoby has taught yoga in queer and trans communities, to survivors of sexual violence, to people recovering from addiction, to homeless folks, and to everyone else as well. He is a co-founder of Third Root, now admiring from afar, and in 2015 was designated a «Game Changer» by Seane Corn and Yoga Journal. Jacoby also serves on the Advisory Board of the Yoga Service Council, and is Faculty of Off the Mat, Into the World. Leaning on yogic and Buddhist philosophy, Jacoby works on turning toward the pain and injustice in the world while doing everything he can to not add a single further drop of suffering while cultivating joy, love, and play.
