Join us for the coming together of CIRCLE OF LIGHT-- a special monthly gathering and benefit to nourish, honor and offer of the infinite incandescence of our hearts in an ever-widening circle of compassion and love.
This candle lit, intention drenched session will feature breathwork, soothing movement, guided meditation and sweet deep relaxation. Infused with the healing power of chandra namaskar (lunar salutations), mantra, poetry and the wisdom of sages from various traditions, these inspired and inspiring sessions will root you deeply and relax you completely. A tonic for the nervous system, balm for the heart and an opportunity to come together in community for something greater than yourself, each CIRCLE OF LIGHT will be offered the Friday nearest the full moon and is open to all.
50% of the proceeds will be dedicated to supporting the efforts of a selected non profit organization serving the greater good- primarily with a local focus. Each month, we will highlight the work of the group as well as their current needs and volunteer opportunities in advance of the session.
This month's session will benefit the York Street Project
whose mission is to weave innovative programs that shelter, feed, educate and promote the healing and independence of persons in need, especially women and their children. This mission is acted out in four interrelated and coordinated yet separate programs:
The Nurturing Place – Early childhood development for homeless and low-income children aged four months to six years whose mothers reside in St. Joseph’s Home or attend Kenmare Alternative High School. Here they can overcome damage to their minds, bodies, and spirits from the effects of poverty, poor nutrition and dysfunctional family situations.
St. Joseph’s Home – Provides a homeless woman and her child(ren) with 18 months of supportive, communal living as she works to improve her life and attain permanent, affordable housing. More than just a shelter, St. Joseph’s provides its families with ongoing social services from a team of professionals that include counseling, crisis intervention, family therapy, health education, parenting, life skills, and family budgeting.
Kenmare High School – A fully accredited alternative high school providing women aged 17 and older who dropped out of the public or private school system with a second chance to earn a diploma. Additionally, we offer the counseling, job readiness, social services, and childcare support at our onsite center, The Nurturing Place.
St. Mary’s Residence – Safe, affordable housing for single working women with limited incomes. The Residence provides affordable housing, meals, and communal living services for each woman, allowing her to concentrate on improving her job skills for a better future.
