Opening Night of Black Skin, White Masks: Cinema Inspired by Frantz Fanon
Explore the still-potent beliefs of Frantz Fanon with writers, activists, and critics at BAM. We’re screening FRANTZ FANON: BLACK SKIN, WHITE MASK, a dreamily poetic journey through Fanon’s life and complex ideas on colonialism, black alienation, and the struggle for liberation.
Following the screening, series programmer Ashley Clark will lead Framing Fanon, a roundtable discussion with writer and activist
Kazembe Balagun, artist Alexandra Bell, and cultural critic Tobi Haslett as they discuss how Fanon has influenced their work and how his ideas still resonate in our fraught modern climate.
