King of Truth Records Presents: Ocean Music & Ethan Woods Record Release Show, featuring Evelyn! at C'mon Everybody.
— Ocean Music is a musical collective created by multidisciplinary artist and healer Richard Aufrichtig. Born in the Hudson River Valley, schooled in New York City and Berlin, descendant of at least three European countries, student of theater, published poet, notable wanderer, and supposedly prolific, Aufrichtig leads a band of native Californians, bringing to life songs full of “cinematic grandeur” (Active Listener).
Critics have described Ocean Music as a “mellifluous and woozy … lo-fi troubadour” (Time Out New York), playing “beautifully atmospheric acoustic folk epics” (An Earful), and “traditional American songwriting with a modern instrumental sensibility … blurring the line between music, poetry, and theatre” (KCAW).
Ocean Music has three releases under their belt (aside from the dozen-plus that Aufrichtig has released under other names): 2014’s Ocean Music, 2016’s Songs From The City, and 2017’s Wake: Three Songs. 2017 found Ocean Music occupied with the project of electrifying their material with a band including lead guitarist Kevin Schwartzbach, bassist Rebecca Kushner, drummer Alex Thrailkill, and keyboardist Sam Galison, which An Earful described as “an explosive update on Replacements-Pixies-Van Morrison, with interlocking guitars and pummeling rhythms.” Now, the band is set to release a half-dozen records of unheard material as it evolves once more.
— Evelyn is a five-piece band making hearts-on-their-sleeves indie rock out of Brooklyn, NY. The band is: Dani Lencioni (guitar/vocals), Drew Broussard (lead guitar), Jordan Kisner (vocals), Brian Paul (drums), and Zachary Joy Smith (bass). Evelyn’s debut EP, Light Full, was released in March 2017. The band is in the studio working on their next release, out in 2018. ohevelyn.com
— Ethan Woods is a singer-songwriter, electronic experimentalist, and composer for modern dance. As a performer, he places vocal and electronic experimentation into a folk song context, with results ranging from humorous stomps to plaintive reflections. His last recorded work, the Town The People EP, was released in June of 2017 with his band Rokenri. On January 28th 2018, Ethan will be releasing a limited edition 10" EP titled Mossing Around and Other Songs as a part of the King Of Truth Records showcase at C'Mon Everybody in Brooklyn, NY. This EP will have a run of 30 records, and will only be released physically. In February 2018, Ethan will be moving from Brooklyn, NY to Asheville, NC where he will be joining composer and vocalist Trevor Wilson on a new as-of-yet unnamed project, pursuing work as an arborist, and begin studying acoustic ecology. As such, the performance at C'Mon Everybody will also serve as a goodbye show to New York City, and will feature an intimate set of songs developed over his time as a resident of Brooklyn. Ethan is currently working on a full-length album titled BURNOUT, to be released in 2018.
