Tony Troffa is a DJ and producer who has been spinning records for over 25 years, always with a focus on unknown disco, soul, African and Latin tunes. He recently co-founded Made in NY Records with JuSoong Sun (aka Disco-Bobulated and C3). JuSoong was a fixture of lower Manhattan growing up, both as a prolific graffiti writer and a b-boy. He shows up in film, too: JuSoong was an extra in The Warriors and makes multiple appearances in Maestro, a 2003 doc about the Paradise Garage and the Loft. With Made in NY Records, he and Tony focus on edits of rare and unreleased afro-soul and disco. Tonight they hit the 'days to shine a light on their favorite hidden gems.
Indoors at Nowadays is a gathering place with an amazing analog soundsystem and wood dance floor. The room was dreamt up and brought into being by the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday guys.
We're on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood. We've got a full bar, and starting in mid-January, we'll have a full kitchen. We throw parties on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and we do immersive listening sessions called Planetarium on Sundays.
Thursdays are free, and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays have a cover charge. If you're tight on dough but wanna join us, you can buy early bird tickets on RA, or you can RSVP for reduced or free entry on Fridays and Saturdays at nowadays.nyc/rsvp.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
