A Songwriter’s Tale

Hi, my name is Freddie Moises and I am a singer songwriter and so are my friends.

With every song that you hear there is a story behind it and the singer who shares it with an audience. So, I would like it if you would come hear two of my favorite people Chrissy Roberts and Malcolm Marsden tell their stories. Through word and music in downtown Jersey City at the LITM venue.

Malcolm Marsden 7-730 pm.

Malcolm writes and performs folk-based rock and pop music on acoustic and electric guitar, in groups and solo. Having emerged from the diverse Connecticut punk/DIY music scene of the late 1970s, he takes inspiration from mixing musical genres to reveal new avenues of expression. Folk ballads, country and pop art song, rockabilly, R&B and gospel roots music are his ingredients, that blend into a distinctly 21st century American groove. malcolmmarsden.com/

Chrissy Roberts 8-830 p.m.

Elizabeth, New Jersey is where I was born and raised. At age twelve I brought home my saxophone from school and from that moment on music has saved my life. Music is always in head to the point that I can’t sleep or rest my mind until I’m in front of a piano and play what is in my head. The piano is my orchestra.
My name is Freddie Oliver Moises and I am a musician, singer songwriter, photographer, poet, lyricist, story teller and an original artiest who plays a mean saxophone.

“Freddie Moises, an incredibly deep talent, performed an inspiring set of original songs Wednesday night,July 12th 2017 at The Parkside Lounge on the Lower East Side. I have become familiar with his material through performances in Jersey City and his participation at events in Manhattan which I attend”.

“Fred is a prolific writer who documents his personal experience through songs, poetry and riveting prose. A horn player at his core, he has a sophisticated sense of melody and harmony which has enabled him to craft rich song arrangements that draw from varied influences”.

“The lush backings from his guitar make use of different tunings and complex chords bringing the influence of many genre to his unique sound. His lyrics are straight forward yet metaphorical and are character sketches that also document powerful stories from his own spiritual journey.”

His songs speak to personal struggles unraveling a complex life yet they communicate little rancor or a sense of injustice. There is deep compassion in him, a knowledge of what is really important in life and a real understanding of “the struggle”.
