About this month's readers:

MELISSA FEBOS is the author of the memoir, Whip Smart (St. Martin’s Press 2010), and the essay collection, Abandon Me (Bloomsbury 2017), which is a LAMBDA Literary Award finalist, a Publishing Triangle Award finalist, an Indie Next Pick, and was named a Best Book of 2017 by Esquire, Book Riot, The Cut, Electric Literature, Bustle, Medium, Refinery29, The Brooklyn Rail, Salon, The Rumpus, and others. Her second essay collection, Girlhood (Bloomsbury), will be published in 2019. Her work has appeared in The Kenyon Review, Tin House, Granta, The Believer, The New York Times, The New York Times Book Review, Lenny Letter, The Guardian, Elle, Vogue, and elsewhere, and her essays have won prizes from Prairie Schooner, Story Quarterly, and Center for Women Writers at Salem College. She is a three-time MacDowell Colony fellow and has also received fellowships from the Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Vermont Studio Center, The Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, The BAU Institute, Ragdale, and The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, which also named her the 2017 recipient of the Sarah Verdone Writing Award. An Associate Professor of Creative Writing at Monmouth University, she serves on the Board of Directors for VIDA: Women in Literary Arts and lives in Brooklyn.

T KIRA MADDEN is a writer, photographer, and amateur magician. She is the recipient of fellowships from The MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Hedgebrook, and Tin House, and is a 2017 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in nonfiction literature from the New York Foundation for the Arts. She serves as the founding Editor-in-chief of No Tokens, and her debut memoir, Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls, is forthcoming from Bloomsbury in 2019.

JAYA SAXENA is a freelance writer and the co-author of Basic Witches. She lives in Queens.

TYLER WETHERALL is the author of No Way Home: A Memoir of Life on the Run. Her journalism has appeared in The Guardian, Vice, and The Irish Independent, her short fiction has been published in The Gettysburg Review, among others. She teaches journalism and creative writing at Manhattanville College, and splits her time between Brooklyn and London.
