Our Beyond Bold And Brave presents BLACK LESBIAN CONFERENCE 2016, the first of its kind held in Harlem and the first in New York City in over 30 years, welcomed 200 Black/African Descent lesbians and allies to experience programming and activities led by keynote speaker Dr. Marjorie Hill and presenters Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Dr. Mignon Moore, Dr. Judith Casselberry, Yoruba Richen and others. «Work As Memoir» BLACK LESBIAN CONFERENCE 2018 will be the second bi-annual gathering for Black/African Descent Lesbians* and supporters to responsibly consider and engage important issues that can strengthen support for our individual and collective community work. We define Black/African Descent Lesbians* as a diverse community of women who are: part of the African diaspora including Black, African, African-American, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Indigenous, Afro-Latina, Afro-Asian, Afro-European; identify as transgender, cisgender, gender non-conforming, queer, same-gender loving as well as additional identities; and are attracted to and/or have relationships with women. Beyond Bold And Brave and the Black Lesbian Conferences it produces was. founded by New York City LGBT community activists alyce d. emory and Kim L. Ford.
